Since esports is one of the few sports where almost anyone can compete on equal footing with each other, it has the potential to be a gender neutral sports zone. This is one of the reasons we wanted to support esports in our area: to allow people to connect with each other while breaking down boundaries. In the industry, 30 percent of esports viewership and 35 percent of esports gamers are women. That’s one of the reasons why we decided to create a gaming center that would be safe for people of any background.
Creating a space where all gamers feel comfortable
From the inception of The Esports Cave we pushed to have an environment where anyone can feel comfortable. This starts with a wide open design where you can see the whole gaming floor at the same time. Parents and staff can see what’s going on at a glance. This is important for us to enforce a zero tolerance zero toxicity environment; no slurs allowed in this space. During Covid we learned about some high quality cleaning regiments both for preventing the spread of germs and for comfort.
Running tournaments: you are welcome here!
Our work to create safe, professional spaces was noticed by organizations and allowed us to offer some amazing experiences. At our Cedar Park location we hosted a huge Super Smash Bros tournament called Solar Strife, where we worked with Majesty Gaming to bring that tournament to our community. Majesty Gaming is a women led organization focused on providing a space where gamers can interact with each other and feel safe. Solar Strife was a major success with 122 attendees competing together.
A professional national esports team reached out to us to host their women’s esports team for a tournament. The Valorant team came in to compete in a large online tournament, since we had high speed business fiber internet and high end gaming PCs. We even had a special room for them to compete in with glass so that they could compete distraction free without being too isolated. We’re glad that large organizations trusted our infrastructure for important tournaments.

I have been a lifelong gamer and love sharing this passion with my wife. We met in The Elder Scrolls Online playing dungeons. It is so special to keep sharing these experiences with her as we build the new location together, and Lisa is likely the first face you’ll see at the front desk. We’re both thrilled to invite you to come game with us at Pinballz Lake Creek, whether you’re looking to have a birthday party or date night! The couple’s night was a great success as we spun up friendly competition among couples, and just to keep it interesting sometimes intentionally put couples on opposite teams.
